Senior Police Executive Angel Calzadilla Police Memorial Scholarship

angel-c-pic1The Miami Police Department’s Do The Right Thing (DTRT) Program is in search of  Miami-Dade County graduating high school seniors interested in serving the community as police officers in honor of a beloved officer who passed away in 2011.  The Senior Police Executive Angel Calzadilla/Do The Right Thing Police Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Senior Police Executive Calzadilla, a well regarded officer who succumbed to a lifelong private struggle with cystic fibrosis at the age of 48.  Do The Right Thing, known for recognizing and rewarding area youths for their positive behavior and actions, is offering the scholarship annually to one Miami-Dade County high school graduating senior.  The scholarship will cover tuition up to $6,000 to attend the City of Miami Police Academy in downtown Miami.  Applications are due to the DTRT office at the Miami Police Department by April 16, 2021.  The scholarship winner will be announced by June 1, 2021 and the recipient will have up to two years to attend the academy.
